Down A Dozen Oysters
Start your holiday on Saturday, Nov. 20 with the 2021 Murrells Inlet Oyster Roast at Wicked Tuna on the MarshWalk. Enjoy all-you-can-eat oysters for $45 (early bird price) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you don’t eat oysters, no worries. Other menu items will be available. All proceeds go to Murrells Inlet 2020, a non-profit dedicated to preserving the inlet.
Take a Run
Kick off Thanksgiving Day with a morning run with the 12th Surfside Beach Turkey Trot, starting at 8 a.m. on Nov. 25 at the Surfside Beach Pier parking lot. You can run, walk or stroll either a 5K or 10K. Registration continues through Wednesday, Nov. 24.
Start with Breakfast
If you’re a breakfast eater, head to Applewood House of Pancakes on Pawleys Island, which is traditionally is open until 11 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
Have Some Turkey!
Dine on A Local Thanksgiving at The Hammock Shops Village, with seatings scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Turkey Day! Local gastropub will serve a family-style, all-you-care-to-eat dinner of brined & smoked turkey, pineapple and brown sugar glazed ham, corn bread stuffing, mashed potatoes, giblet gravy, homemade cranberry sauce, crispy Brussel sprouts, candied yams, creamed corn and yeast rolls. For dessert, choose between pumpkin and pecan pie. The cost is $29 for 12 years and older; $14 for 3-11 years of age.
Or reserve spot at Wahoo’s Fish House, which serves a seafood and traditional Thanksgiving Buffet from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 25. The cost is $31.95 for adults; $13.95 for children 6-12 and free for children up to 5.
Shop ’Til You Drop
The day after Thanksgiving is generally the biggest shopping day of the year, so why not support some local businesses while visiting Pawleys Island? The Hammock Shops Village at 10880 Ocean Highway 21 makes a great place to knock out some of that Christmas list. After you shop, enjoy a meal at bisQit or Local gastropub, where you can sit back and listen to the Black Friday Blues Happy Hour with My Buddy Todd from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on Nov. 26.
Light Up The Night
Each holiday season, Brookgreen Garden lights up with more than 2,800 hand-lit candles and countless sparkling lights during its Nights of a Thousand Candles, set Nov. 26 to Jan. 2. Go online to purchase tickets, which are $25 for adults and $12 for children ages 4-12. This traditional event is sure to get you in the holiday spirit.
Soak in the Sunshine
